André is a fun loving, authentic, creative, Jamaican man who is passionate about health, wellness and self-development.
In his youth, he attended Knox Community College in Mandiville Mancheste, Jamaica, while working in a dress making factory, using the experience he had gotten from his grand-mother who was a seamstress.
At the age of 21, he started working in retail and his boss decided to send the employees to the gym to speed up production. André fell in love with fitness. It changed his perception of life.
In 2007, he attended night school and attained a diploma in Marketing and Sales. In 2008, he was promoted to Retail Buyer which prepared him for Steele, his company today.
After about 10 years, he noticed that he looked as good as the models on the underwear boxes and decided to move to Canada to be an underwear model. In 2011 he arrived in Toronto, Ontario to follow his dream.
He was told by modelling agencies that he was too short to be a model, however he did become a fitness model from 2012 to 2015.
In 2013, André competed as a professional body builder and won in the novice category. That same year, he read the book, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napolean Hill, and decided he could become an underwear model by starting his own underwear company.
As his thighs became more muscular, the crotch of his pants would wear out fairly quickly. He got curious about finding an underwear fabric that would help prevent this. He found that bamboo absorbs moisture, is sustainable and is an eco friendly fiber. The underwear made with bamboo, help the pant slide easier and makes it more durable. All of André’s underwear are made with bamboo for a comfortable, luxurious and sexy feel.

Bamboo textiles are cloth, yarn, and clothing made out of bamboo fibres. While historically used only for structural elements, such as bustles and the ribs of corsets, in recent years a range of technologies have been developed allowing bamboo fibre to be used in a wide range of textile and fashion applications and with a fast growth in popularity.
Modern bamboo clothing is clothing made from either 100% bamboo yarn or a blend of bamboo and cotton yarn. Our fabric is a mix of 95% Bamboo and 5% Spandex Jersey to give a nice form fitting look.

When we conducted a survey, men were saying that with the underwear they wore, the crotch of their pants would begin to wear quickly, we noted that, especially when wearing jeans, there is usually already heavy friction since demin is a dense, course fabric. Denim also tends to be heavier at the crotch area with a thick seam there, so when the underwear rides up around the crotch seam, the bunching up of the fabric there can generate more friction. As a result of all this, the surface of the underwear will generate heat and can present discomfort and added wear and tear.
However, with the easy breathing of the organic bamboo textile, the surface is smooth and allows the skin to breathe more freely. In fine count threads, the yarn is soft and silky to the touch, since it is less dense, less heat is generated at the body surface near the crotch. Therefore, there is more comfort in the wearing of the product. Additionally, the fabric will last longer because of the less dense texture, compared to conventional cotton. So the process creates a material that is as durable as it is comfortable to the skin.
AESTHETICS — Underwear is worn right up against the skin, even though it is not easily visible, it has a direct impact on how we feel wearing it. Bamboo is designed to create comfort in the wearing of the garment, and to contour to your body. Bamboo is known to grip and countour to form better than cotton. It is a sleeker, firmer fit over the form of the body which profiles and frames a body in a way that really showcases the hard work men put into having an attractive body — from the images viewed on this site, this is self evident. Cotton linen does not showcase the male form in nearly as compelling a way.
VALUE — When quality is explained to the paying public many people are prepared to pay a premium for quality. With the Andre Rose line of products, you are receiving added quality. Only silk and cashmere fleece are of a higher quality or hold more stature as a textile.
However, silk and cashmere fleece are highly delicate and damage more easily than bamboo cotton. Costs of getting stains out of silk are excessively high. Bamboo on the other hand is quite durable while being extremely comfortable. While being gentle on the skin the fabric is easily wearable, very comfortable and therefore has more practicality to it than either silk or cashmere.
DURABILITY — Cotton on the other hand is ‘everyday and generic’ and usually does not hold it’s shape for long. While not everyone can buy silk and cashmere, bamboo cotton can be considered a luxury fabric and yet it is still most affordable! While remaining somewhat of a luxury it is not as expensive as silk or cashmere to work with. So unlike silk or cashmere, bamboo cotton conveys luxury, but with great comfort and an everyday practicality in mind.
Our organic fabric comes from the bamboo tree, from the leaf and the bark of the tree. The woody part of the bamboo is crushed mechanically before a natural process is used to break down and extract the bamboo fibre, which is then spun into the yarn that the under garments are made from. While the production itself does involve some treatment and processing, bamboo is usually grown on less desireable agricultural land, and grows to maturity quite rapidly in comparison to other trees.
Therefore, land that is used to grow bamboo is not putting additional pressure on rain forest acquisition or increasing demand on the rain forest canopy. Supporting the use of bamboo means you are supporting a plant that can be harvested without clearcutting of rainforests. Therefore there is less association with environmental depletion, soil erosion, species devastation, or environmental degradation with the increased use of bamboo as a wearable textile.
